We'll start from Parking Lot A (the windmill/cabin/playground parking lot just off the main entrance), head south to HWY 370, cross under the bridge, loop around and back, head through the dog park, and finish in the same area. This 10 mile race course will be one contiguous loop all the way around the lake. Terraine is hilly.

There will be 2 unmanned aid stations along the course to refuel & rehydrate. We will use Chalco's Pit Toilets located around the lake. There are pit toilets at the start/finish, and near miles 3 and 8.

Parking: Park at Parking Lot A, along the road, or up near the main entrance building. Walk to the starting line located at Parking Lot A (the Windmill/Cabin/ Playground area).

Clothing: Dress for the weather in layers if need be. Trail Running or Hiking with a backpack/water bottle is optional. There may be a couple of spots where feet can get wet. Wear running, trail running, or hiking shoes. Protective eyewear a good idea- there are a few areas through low lying trees. Wear a smile! Be prepared to laugh and enjoy!

Trail marking: Thanks to the GOATZ, we'll be using their trail marking flags along the course. We'll use spray chalk to mark any stumps or holes.

Course Duration: Trail Runners will typically finish in 1.5-3 hours. Hikers will typically finish in 2.5-5 hours. Terrain is Hilly.

Prizes: Will be awarded to the first 3 males and females who cross the finish line. We will also host a raffle with about 10-15 prizes so that everyone has a chance to win. We will call raffle winners post race. Prizes can be picked up at Canfields.

Packet Pickup: Canfields: Friday, Oct. 27th 10am-8pm and race day morning beginning at 10am.

This race designed to be a "Back to Basics" race meaning that we want to keep it simple, affordable, and low key. After the race, feel free to hang out- bring a hammock, slackline, some tunes, have a family picnic, throw a frisbee, play some games with friends. There will be lots of trees and green space. The course will be open until everyone gets in- course cutoff is 4pm.

Green Exercise - Promote your Wellbeing!
"A growing body of research shows that physical activity in green spaces can promote positive experiences such as: intensified sensory perception, a feeling of union with nature and a renewed sense of awakening. The role of 'Green Exercise' in psychological health is growing more popular as people become increasingly alienated from the natural world and conditions such as 'nature-deficit disorder' prevail."
