Scott Marble

Scott started out at Canfield's in 1993 at the Cuming St. store. There he began work in the fishing department but realized very quickly that his passion was for camping and backpacking. Soon he became the manager and buyer for the Camping, Footwear, and Paddlesports department.

In 2003 Scott left the store to go to work for the largest sporting goods retail buying group in the country as a divisional merchandise manager. There he worked for more than 260 sporting goods stores around the country negotiating buying programs and helping local retailers compete against chain store competition. In 2008 Scott accepted the position of Director of Operations at Sherpa Adventure Gear, a young climbing clothing brand who made the majority of their apparel in Nepal. For the next several years Scott traveled overseas extensively.

Scott returned to Omaha in 2013 and eventually purchased Canfield's Sporting Goods from his longtime friend and mentor Rick Canfield. Aside from the day-to-day operations, Scott purchases footwear, knives, and coordinates all the community initiatives Canfield's is involved with. These include sponsoring local groups like the Greater Omaha Area Trail Runners(GOATz), helping clean & maintain the local hiking and running trails in and around the Omaha area, and promoting the area Boy & Girl Scout groups.

Whenever you are in the store, feel free to ask for Scott. He is always interested in meeting and thanking customers for shopping locally!

Kaleigh Flippin

Adventure Clothing & Sportswear Buyer

Kaleigh comes to us after finishing her Master's in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Ball State University in Indiana. After running cross country at Dana College in Blair, NE she realized she could bridge her love of fitness, psychology, and helping women. Thus, her specialization while in grad school was focused on women's empowerment using exercise to build confidence and raise self-esteem. During her studies Kaleigh has been: an exercise adherence consultant, a workshop leader for a 6-week self-esteem group, a sport psychology consultant for collegiate tennis and cross country, and a fitness instructor for undergraduate students. To keep the stress off during her schooling, Kaleigh completed a triathlon and half-marathon and took as many solo road trips as time would allow. When she has free time, she enjoys driving with the windows down, taking bike rides to small towns for weekend brunch, and getting inspired by reading about the wild adventures that others are taking.

Throughout her time at Canfield's she has helped travelers, runners, hikers, and more find gear that not only fits well but has all of the technical components to make sure clothing is the last thing on their mind while being active. Kaleigh hopes to start a women's outdoor adventure group at Canfield's in the near future and would love to start getting to know anyone that is interested. Feel free to shoot her an e-mail or come chat with her here in the store.
